What is calcium oxide or quicklime?

Calcium oxide, commonly called quicklime, is a highly alkaline and reactive material produced by calcining limestone. It is selected for industrial processes according to chemistry, available-lime basis, reactivity, form and particle size.

How is quicklime different from hydrated lime?

Quicklime is calcium oxide (CaO). Hydrated lime is calcium hydroxide, produced by reacting quicklime with a controlled amount of water. They are not interchangeable by default; the correct material depends on the process, equipment and approved specification.

Which parameters are important when selecting a grade?

Buyers commonly review CaO or available-lime basis, reactivity or slaking behaviour, particle-size distribution, moisture, residue and relevant impurity limits. The required test method should also be stated where applicable.

Are lump, granular and powder forms available?
